Ingredients
- 2.2 lbs (1 kg) potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet preferred)
- 3 cups Club WaterSystems filtered water
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup warm milk or unsweetened plant-based milk
- Salt to taste
- White pepper (optional)
Optional for extra richness:
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon cream cheese
Preparation
Prepare the potatoes
- Wash the potatoes using Club WaterSystems filtered water.
- Peel and cut into evenly sized cubes.
Cook in your Classica® pot
- Place potatoes into your Classica® pot and add filtered water.
- Add a pinch of salt.
- Cover with the Temp-Tone valve open.
- Cook over medium heat until the Temp-Tone signals the ideal cooking temperature.
- Lower the heat and close the valve.
- Continue cooking for 12–15 minutes or until fork tender.
The secret to velvety mashed potatoes
- Drain immediately.
- Return potatoes to the warm pot for 30 seconds to remove excess moisture.
- Mash while still hot.
- Add butter first and mix gently.
- Gradually add warm milk until silky smooth.
- Season with salt and pepper.
